Seychelle Hattingh joins team SIC.
SAN CLEMENTE, California - SIC Maui Announces its 2017 Team lineup with some acquisitions as well as re-signing most of its current athletes. Seychelle Hattingh and Kody Kerbox have signed on to SIC’s Global Team, joining existing teammates Lina Augaitis, Caio Vaz, Andrea Moller, Livio Menelau, Jeremy Riggs and moving from the National Team to the Global Team, former Olympian Tamas Buday. Along with the Global Team, SIC boasts a tremendous lineup of National Team riders, brand ambassadors and of course its grom team, which gives SIC a presence across many disciplines, geography and genders from veteran paddlers to the paddlers of the future.
We are very excited about the signing of both Seychelle and Kody”, said Anthony Scaturro – President and CEO of SIC Maui. Scaturro went on further to say, “Both are amazing talents and SIC is proud to have them on the team. New vacancies on the team have allowed us to focus and foster new talent and existing talent that need great equipment, financial resources and support to fulfill their full potential. As well, the changes really round out the SIC team from flat water race, downwind and surfing disciplines and we feel as though we now have a better balance to the team.”
SIC continues to invest in R&D and has been hard at work building new prototypes for future release. “Team feedback, testing and validation has always been a critical part of the developing, testing and perfecting of our world-class designs. The market is evolving and we need hungry, dedicated and talented athletes to validate the newest designs before we go to market. The talent on the SIC team provides me the resources that I need to validate our shapes and green lighting final shapes before we go to market”, said Mark Raaphorst – Founder and lead designer/shaper for SIC. Raaphorst went on to say, “In addition to seeking podiums, we want the lessons that we learn from our athletes and from design evolution to ultimately benefit the recreational paddler in all disciplines. At the end of the day, competition is about celebrating the winners and their accomplishments, but paddling is about community.”
“I am very excited to be a part of the SIC team,” said Kody Kerbox. Kerbox continued, “It has been a dream of mine to ride SIC since I got into this sport. Being able to paddle and race on SIC’s flat-water race and unlimited boards are a dream that has finally come true! The open ocean boards SIC produces are the best in the world and I am excited to take my open ocean racing to the next level over the next few seasons in hopes of contending with the best in the world in Hawaiian waters for many years to come!”
“I couldn't be more thrilled to join the SIC global team,” exclaimed Seychelle Hattingh. Seychelle added, “I am excited to work with founder and designer Mark Raaphorst on the new product lines for 2018 and to most of all diversify my skills as a standup paddler by learning from some of the best downwinders in the sport. I feel honored for the opportunity and can't wait to begin training in Maui, which has been on my bucket list since I began SUP! Mahalo SIC Maui. Aloha Hawaii!”
